“Urgh! I’m not ready for Monday please can I have another Sunday?”

Even if you are given a hundred Sundays, you will never be ready for Monday!
Monday mornings are usually rough on most people, even if they love their jobs. That unpleasant feeling that hits you when your alarm goes off and you know you have to get out of your sweet sleep and sometimes you just can’t help but snooze the alarm.

Let’s give you some ideas to make it much much easier for you to get out of bed and start off your day/week on a good foot.

1. Get enough sleep. A good morning starts with a good night’s sleep. Sometimes you drag yourself off the bed in the morning because you slept poorly. Your mind and body need to relax, so you can get quality sleep. Cut back on screen time (phones, TV and other gadgets) and steer clear of alcohol or caffeine before bed.

2. Give yourself a reason to get up. Have something you look forward to doing for the day/week.

3. If your job or commute to work (e.g. Maddening Lagos traffic) are the reasons why you struggle to get off the bed, no tip in this world will help you get over morning anxiety unless you try to find a remedy for them.

If you have a crappy job, start looking for a new one and if you spend long hours on the road to get to your place of work, consider moving closer or finding a job with less commute time. Easier said than done right? Especially with the state of things in the country. If your happiness and healthy state of mind depend on it, you don’t have a choice but to start working on it.
